Seeds of Success S.O.S. – After School Youth Program – Grades 6th – 8th
“Rescuing 1 child at a time”
Coming in 2011 CBNA will introduce an After School project called Seeds of Success, (SOS). SOS is about mentoring our youth and preparing them with tools that will put their creativity to work and allow for critical thinking. We desire to set them on a course, to “succeed in business and lifestyle.” SOS is a once per week program that will involve a 16 week initial commitment from the youth.
Those students who survive the initial challenge will be given the opportunity to continue forward and will be asked to commit an additional 10 to 12 weeks for:
- Attending CBNA networking meetings
- Touring of local businesses (both private and public sectors)
- Brainstorming business opportunties to fill a need
- Team Building Workshops
- Leadership Retreat
- Starting a business
The overall curriculum is focused on entrepreneurial concepts and will encourage critical thinking. A major focus will be made towards working as a community. We will utilize financial concepts throughout our time and challenge the youth to implement key concepts of money management.
The program is designed to teach our youth the importance of team work, community and life principles that are easy to understand and apply. Part of our strategy is creating opportunities for volunteerism through local non-profits to better understand the needs of our community and to create awareness of social issues on a local level.
